Methods

Each sampling trip included one search during the day and another at night for each stream. These searches focused on all life stages (from eggs to adults) and were carefully and thoroughly conducted by two or three people along a 150 m section of each stream. Visual and auditory searches encompassing the entire width of the stream bed plus the riparian vegetation up to about two meters from each margin were conducted.
