Methods
Dung beetle samplings were carried out every three month between september 2016 and July 2019 (totalling 12 samplings) in two sites in the Santa Catarina Island, south of Brazil (Peri and UCAD). We used pitfall traps to sample dung beetles baited with 10 g of human faeces. Traps remained in the field for 48 h. Each of the two sites was sampled using 5 baited pitfall traps (totalling 10 traps per day), along a linear transect spaced 100 m apart inside the sites. Between both sites there is a distance of 20 km.
