Methods

European standard EN 14011:2003 (Water quality—sampling of fish with electricity) was applied in electrofishing. In all cases, single-run electrofishing was used, and fish densities (number/100 m2) were calculated straight from this fish catch with the knowledge of the of the electrofished area. Grain size is the average area sampled, which varied across sites and sampling events. Escape nets were not used.
